      Nouns are words for people, places or things.

Los sustantivos son palabras que designan personas, lugares o cosas.

      Verbs are action words. Every sentence has one. They tell what the subject is doing, or how it's being.

Los verbos son palabras de acción. Todas las frases tienen uno. Dicen lo que el sujeto está haciendo, o cómo está siendo.

      Adjectives are words that describe nouns.

Los adjetivos son palabras que describen a los sustantivos.

Now let's learn about one more important part of speech: adverbs!

Ahora vamos a conocer otra parte importante de la oración: los adverbios.

Add + verb

      Adverbs add more to a verb!

Los adverbios añaden más a un verbo.

Take a look at the adverb quickly:

The adverb quickly tells about how the verb ran is done.

El adverbio rápidamente habla de cómo se hace el verbo correr.

Tip: Adjectives describe nouns. Adverbs describe verbs. 👍

Adverbs that Tell How

Adverbios que dicen cómo

      Many adverbs tell how a verb is done. They usually end in -ly.

Muchos adverbios indican cómo se hace un verbo y suelen terminar en -ly.

happily

felizmente

easily

fácilmente

quickly

rápidamente

Sarah stacked the books carefully.

Sarah apiló los libros con cuidado.

Tip: Not all words that end in -ly are adverbs.

Consejo: No todas las palabras que terminan en -ly son adverbios.

For example, family is not an adverb. It's a collective noun. 

Por ejemplo, familia no es un adverbio, es un sustantivo colectivo.

Adverbs that Tell When and Where

Adverbios que dicen cuándo y dónde

      Adverbs can also tell when and where a verb happened.

Los adverbios también pueden indicar cuándo y dónde ocurrió un verbo.
