Imagine you're going on a school trip! 😺

Imagina que te vas de viaje de estudios.

Your teacher gives you a schedule of the trip's activities. It looks like this:

Tu profesor te da un programa de las actividades del viaje, que tiene este aspecto:

      A schedule is a list of all the activities you'll be doing during certain times of the day.

Un horario es una lista de todas las actividades que vas a realizar en determinados momentos del día.

On the schedule, there are 2 times written next to each activity:

En el horario, hay dos horas escritas al lado de cada actividad:

The first is the start time. It tells you when the activity will begin. 

La primera es la hora de inicio, que indica cuándo comenzará la actividad.

Rock climbing starts at 10:00 a.m.

La escalada comienza a las 10:00 horas.

The second, is the end time. It tells you when the activity will end. 

La segunda es la hora de finalización, que indica cuándo terminará la actividad.

Rock climbing ends at 11:00 a.m.

La escalada termina a las 11:00 horas.

The hyphen in the middle stands for "to".

El guión en el medio significa "a".

We say that rock climbing is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Decimos que la escalada es de 10:00 a 11:00 horas.

Once you know the start and end times for an activity, you can figure out how long it will take. It's just like subtracting the times.

Una vez que conozcas la hora de inicio y la de finalización de una actividad, podrás calcular el tiempo que te llevará. Es como restar los tiempos.

Since rock climbing starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m. you know that it will be 1 hour long.

Not All Schedules Look the Same

Let's say that your teacher gives you a schedule that looks like this:

Finding the start time is easy. It's the time written next to rock climbing.

Finding the end time is also pretty easy. Just look at the start time for the next activity, Break.

Other Types of Schedules

      A bus schedule shows the time the bus arrives at a particular location.

There is only 1 time written next to each location.

That's because the time it arrives at the bus stop is the same time it departs. 😺

A class schedule shows you when your classes begin and end.

El horario de clases le muestra cuándo comienzan y terminan sus clases.

A sports schedule shows you when a team is playing.

Creating Your Own Schedule

You can create a schedule of all the things you want to do during the day.

Puedes crear una agenda con todas las cosas que quieres hacer durante el día.

Remember, a day has 24 hours.

Let's make a schedule for 12 of those hours. Try setting a time for each activity you do during those 12 hours.

If you wake up at 8:00 a.m. your schedule might start off looking a lot like this:
