      The equal sign, =, shows that two things are equal. You're going to see it a lot in math!

We can also think about 13 like this:

Splitting Tens into Ones

Imagine you have a Tens stack, and you want to give one block from it to a friend.

      You can always break up a Tens stack into 10 Ones.

Siempre puedes dividir una pila de Dieces en 10 Unos.

For example,

20 = 2 Tens and 0 Ones

If we split up one of the Tens, we can also say:
