      Addition is putting numbers together to make a new sum.

      Subtraction is taking a number away from another.

Here's a fact family:

      A fact family is a group of four equations that come from the same math mountain:

Una familia de hechos es un grupo de cuatro ecuaciones que proceden de la misma montaña matemática:

      Math mountains have three boxes.

Las montañas matemáticas tienen tres casillas.

The box at the top is the total. The two boxes below are the two parts.

When you add the two parts, you always get the total on top.

When you take one part away from the total, you get the other part.
